Where are you based and do you print from home or at a studio?
I live with artist Luis Monroy in a house-studio in Morata de Tajuña, a town south of Madrid, Spain. Our house is a space where we can live and work with everything we need for our artistic projects. We are very lucky to have a space like this, it makes everything
much easier.
What attracted you to printmaking?
One of the things that most attracted me to printmaking was the imprint, that moment of memory or trace of time that it leaves. I came from analogue photography, but with the transition to digital I felt that I was missing something, I needed to get my hands dirty in the process. Now the ‘photography’ I do is very slow – I carve
it in wood, I dig it out with gouges. My plate is the negative, then I develop it with ink and make copies. These similarities with photography are what attracted me to printmaking. I wanted to make photographs with my hands.
